Chapter Two: On Holy Trembling

p27 Soul:
You speak of vanishing with such eloquence—it’s almost romantic. But in this vanishing everything is lost . . . even though I realize that nothing real is lost, but everything we’ve valued until now is gone. I keep moving between feelings of sweetness and bitterness. I guess my mind is still making valuable that which never has had any value. I can feel the experience of release approaching, but the closer I get the more fearful I become. What do you suggest I do?
